New college slated for State Center Community College District

Submitted by F&C Publisher on March 27, 2009 – 5:42 pmNo Comment

Willow International Center - ExteriorThe Willow International Center took a major step toward becoming the next accredited college in the Central Valley when the SCCCD Board of Trustees selected Clovis Community College as the new name for the college once college status is received.

There are many steps and reports that must be completed before the campus is designated as a college. “We have begun the accreditation process and hope to be fully accredited by 2011 at the earliest,” said Dr. Terry Kershaw, vice chancellor of the North Centers.

The new campus, which is brimming with more than 5,600 students, opened in 2007 with a contemporary 80,000-square-foot building.  A second building is now under construction and is expected to be completed by the fall of 2010.

“We are pleased with the progress of the new building and have included unique design elements that will be appealing to students,” said Kershaw. The new building will include 16 classrooms, seven science labs, a library, faculty offices, a fitness center, and a student services area.
