Chancellor’s Corner

In 2009 we are celebrating the accomplishments of SCCCD and looking to the future. Students, faculty, staff and board members are fulfilling dreams and opening new doors. SCCCD Board Member Isabel Barreras received her master’s degree in public administration from National University. Ricarda Cerda, FCC nutrition instructor, was awarded a USDA fellowship. Reedley College hosted a “Green Summit” that drew together students, businesses and the community as they focused on environmental solutions. Twenty-two North Centers students and their instructors traveled to China for a view into international politics and economics. The FCC Police Academy is providing new officers for Fresno Police Department. These are just a few examples of the successes at SCCCD.
Next year will bring us back to our FCC roots with the Centennial Celebration of Fresno City College. One hundred years later, the iconic Old Administration Building still stands on the campus of Fresno City College as a reminder of our history.
As we approach 100 years of educating Central California, we remember the days when transmitting information meant waiting for the ink to dry, or for the telegram to arrive. But today, please enjoy this 21st century publication, the fully online version of Front & Center with archived articles for your enjoyment. Get to know the SCCCD community and all of its accomplishments.
Enjoy!
