John Perkins, former Reedley College football coach and current men’s golf coach, has been inducted into the California Community Colleges Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame.

After 35 years in higher education, Reedley College President Dr. Barbara Hioco is retiring. She oversaw tremendous growth at Reedley College and will continue to impact higher education in the Central Valley.

Fresno County Sheriff Margaret Mims is this year’s Reedley College Distinguished Alumnus. As Fresno County’s first female sheriff, she continues to break down barriers in law enforcement.

The city of Reedley is known as the Fruit Basket of the World. At Reedley College, students in the Plant and Soil Sciences Program are learning to grow and tend the produce that keeps the world fed.

Since the Reedley College Computer Club was founded in 2007, it has provided students with an outlet for practicing computer assembly and repair skills, while expanding to serve the local community.

The goal of the Reedley College SEED program is to teach foreign students the skills to improve their own communities. It’s up to Jim Mulligan and Sophie Quintero to make sure everyone gets through it.

Reedley College student Austin Fite is an honor student and weightlifter. When he’s not studying, he’s breaking weightlifting records. When he’s not doing that, he’s combating harmful bacteria for the USDA.

A newly awarded grant to Reedley College will help increase the number of Hispanic and low-income students attending college and completing postsecondary degrees. The college will implement four strategies to achieve this goal.

Reedley College staff member Adelfa Lorenzano serves students both on campus and as the first Central Valley board member of the Youth Leadership Initiative.

The medically underserved Central Valley will benefit from a new $3 million grant that provides additional instruction for health care careers across SCCCD.

Reedley College has offered Aviation Maintenance Technician courses for more than 50 years, and the program continues today. It is one of just a handful of FAA-certified programs in the state.

The Reedley College Friends of the Arts is a new group committed to promoting the art of students. The first event showcased a student-produced documentary film about local artists.
